Roy Milton Thommen, 93, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 9:23 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on January 25, 1929, in Roanoke, IL, to Edward F. and Victorine L. (Hennebelle) Thommen. He married Julia Annalee Letsinger on July 16, 1949 in El Paso, IL. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 73 years.
Surviving are his wife, Annalee of Germantown Hills; daughter, Marjorie (Dennis) Hahn of East Peoria, IL; two grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Hahn of Washington, IL and Julie (Tom) Dingledine of Germantown Hills; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Evan, and Amelia Hahn and Tyler, Jaxson, and Ashton Dingledine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward and Clyde Thommen, and one sister, Harriet (Bill) Arndt.
Roy was a tool designer for Caterpillar Tractor Company at the East Peoria plant for 38 years. Roy and Annalee still live in the home they built in Germantown Hills. He was a former member of Izaak Walton League, serving as President, a member of ASME and Christian Union Church in Metamora. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, square dancing, and ballroom dancing.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Christian Union Church with Pastor Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service, also on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke City Cemetery in Roanoke, IL.
