Roy A. Bustillos

It is with heavy heart that we announce the unexpected and untimely passing of Roy A. Bustillos, 23, of El Paso, IL, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on June 12, 2001 to Abraham and Gloria (Munguia) Bustillos. He married Brittney R. Duffy on December 14, 2022 in Metamora, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Brittney of El Paso; son, Emilio Bustillos at home; parents, Abraham Bustillos of New Mexico and Gloria Bustillos of Aurora, CO; siblings, Eduardo Bustillos and Cessy Morales both of Aurora, CO; in-laws, Kevin and Cathy Duffy of Metamora; and sister-in-law, Sophie Duffy of Murfreesboro, TN.

Roy grew up in Aurora, Colorado where he met Brittney while working at Chilli's. In 2021 they moved to Metamora, IL to start their new life together.

Roy had worked at Rivian in Normal, IL as a rail technician. Before then he worked in home improvement and remodeling with "I Know a Guy." In his spare time Roy enjoyed fishing, building detailed Harry Potter and Marvel Hero's Lego sets, and gaming. He was a master of the Rubiks Cube and enjoyed the challenge of the advance cubes as well.

Brittney, Roy, and Milo enjoyed the great outdoors – going on hikes and to the local parks as a family. Roy had a bond with his German Shepherd Castro which was evidenced by a whistle that would stop Castro in his tracks as he awaited instruction from Roy.

Roy's Denver family and friends describe him as a man with an infectious smile and a kind heart. He enjoyed making those around him laugh. Roy was known for the love he had for his family and proudly represented his traditions and culture. Roy will be missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Washburn United Methodist Church in Washburn, IL with Reverend Heather Robertson officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life in Colorado with the date and time still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an Educational Fund for his son, Emilio.
