WASHINGTON?Dr. Ronald R. Johnson, 78, formerly of Washington, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka. He was born on February 13, 1936 in Chicago to Roy and Dorothy Johnson. Dr. Johnson married Marie T. Devaney in Chicago on February 24, 1962. Marie survives. Also surviving is one son, Kenneth (Catherine) Johnson of Bartlett, Illinois; two grandsons, Connor and Ross Johnson; one sister, Lois (Gail) Warden of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and one brother, Edward Johnson of Schaumburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Keith Johnson who died on January 25, 1989. Dr. Johnson had served in the U. S. Army and had earned the rank of Captain prior to his discharge. He had earned his Doctor of Dentistry degree from Northwestern University as well as a bachelors degree there. For more than 35 years Dr. Johnson had his dental practice in Sunnyland prior to his retirement when he turned 65. He was a member of the American Dental Association. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family. A memorial service for Dr. Johnson will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded and Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor?s choice.
