Ronald W. Dyar, 86, of Metamora, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 1:54 pm at Unity Point Proctor, Peoria. He was born on July 30, 1928 in Metamora, IL to Walter S. and Emily May (Robinson) Dyar. He married Hazel B. Fauber on August 20, 1950 in Metamora, IL. She survives. Also surviving are daughter Robin Abushacra of East Peoria; son Keith Alan Dyar of Dunlap; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Verle Dyar and sister Doris Thomason. He was a member of Metamora Christian Union Church since 1944 and served on the Church Council as Trustee and was Head Usher for many years. In 1969 Ronald and Hazel was the prime movers in the development of the original church camp, Camp Wildwood, located Northwest of Metamora. He was a past Trustee and President of the Oakwood Cemetery for many years. Ron was a Korean War Veteran having served with the 25th Infantry in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Johnson Hydraulics for four years and later worked as a Class A Welder for Miller Welding for ten years, working many projects for Caterpillar. He was a private pilot and owned a Cessna 172 plane for several years. A farmer his entire life, he farmed 500 acres organically. He was also one of the first Certified Organic Cleaning facilities in the state. He shipped bagged grain to many parts of the world for human consumption. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at Metamora Christian Union Church with Pastor Gary Salm and Pastor Robert DeBolt officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Metamora Christian Union Church for Camp Wildwood.
