Ronald Leonard Cooling

Ronald L. Cooling, 79, of East Peoria, IL, formerly of Lowpoint, IL, passed away at 2:21 pm on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on April 17, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to Robert and Dorothy (Dodgers) Cooling. He married Donna Jean Johannsen on July 13, 1963 in Chicago, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Donna of East Peoria; two sons, Reed (Melinda) Cooling of East Peoria and Robert (Mindy) Cooling of Bristol, WI; and four grandchildren, Dori (Devan) Henry, Savanna Cooling, Brooke Cooling, and Rhett Cooling. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Darlene Sopko.

Ron had worked as a technician in the shipping department at Komatsu in Peoria. He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting, fishing, and even ice fishing.  One of his favorite ice fishing memories was winning the Dave Genz Invitational in Orr, MN. He also loved hunting in Missouri with his closest friends. He enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit many places.

His most treasured gift was his family whom he loved spending time with.  Ron and Donna would have been married 60 years this year.  He was the best dad and "Papa" his grandkids could have asked for and participated in any activity to support them. He enjoyed life to the fullest and has left many precious memories for his family and friends.
