Roger Dean Hodge, 93, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 2:55 am on Friday, July 4, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on April 9, 1932, in Wilburn, IL, to Clarence and Mrytle (Shepler) Hodge. He married Marilyn E. Carter on March 13, 1953 in Peoria, IL. They had been married for 69 years before Marilyn passed away on November 28, 2022.
Surviving are their son, Mark (Deani) Hodge of Spring Bay, IL; daughter, Marcia Hodge (Rick Odeneal) Houston of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Dana (Chris) Donahue, Trevor (Stephanie) Hodge, and Nicholas (Melissa) Roxby; great-grandchildren, Shelby Frank, Jackson Frank, Griffin Frank, Andrew Donahue, Jake Donahue, Gavin Hodge, Holden Hodge, Maria (Jacob) Austiff, Garrett Cantrell, Colbi Cantrell, and Piper Roxby; great-great-grandson, Colton Austiff; and siblings, Larry (Janet) Hodge of Garner, NC, Norman (Louise) Hodge of Peoria, IL, and Sharon Hodge McClelland of Pekin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Craig Hodge, son-in-law Randy Houston, one infant brother, and three sisters.
Roger was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a Jack of All Trades, working many jobs as a farmer, barber, carpenter, mechanic, bus driver, and head maintenance man at the Metamora Township High School District #122. He was a life-long member and historian of RiversEdge United Methodist Church in Spring Bay, IL, member of the Spring Bay Rescue Squad, former president of Riverview Consolidated School District #2 in Spring Bay, IL, and a former board member of the Spring Bay Cemetery.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 11, 2025 at RiversEdge United Methodist Church with Pastor Tanya Evans officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel and also one hour prior to his service on Friday at the church. Burial will be held in Spring Bay Cemetery with military rites accorded.
