Roberta "Bobbi" Lacey Kohtz

Roberta "Bobbi" Lacey Kohtz, 74, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 4:01 pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 in the Emergency Room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on December 1, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Robert M. and Frances R. (Okomoto) Hannum. She married David E. Garcia. He survives. Also surviving are her daughters Leighann Durdle of Columbia, MO and Jaime Kolar of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren Mitchell, Erica, Lindsay, and Nathan Durdle and John, Payton, and Tyler Kolar; sister Judith McCarthy of East Peoria; and many nieces and nephews. Roberta (Bobbi) worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was then rehired to work part-time in Caterpillar's Customer Services Division and worked an additional 10 years in "the best job" she said she ever had. In her early working years she enjoyed "Card Club" with a bunch of lady friends; in mid-life she enjoyed bowling and later on participating in a woman's Euchre Club and in a mixed couples Euchre club with David, but her real passion was world travel and she traveled to all the exotic places; Africa, the Middle-east, South America, Australia, India, China, Indo-China, New Zeeland, Alaska, Europe, Egypt, Jordan, and the British Isles. Her favorite spot in the world was Italy and the Florence canals. In her early years she was an equestrian. She rode dressage and she loved to ride jumping horses, so it's no wonder that on two different occasions she rode a horse across Ireland. She loved horses, dogs, and any wild animal she could get next to but most of all, she loved her daughters and her grandchildren who will miss grandma "ra-ra" very, very much. Bobbi was a quiet, soft-spoken woman who loved all whom she met and was loved by all who knew her. We will all miss her very, very much. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel in Germantown Hills with Reverend Rick Miller officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 and also one hour prior to her memorial service on Wednesday all at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family interment of ashes will be held at Buckeye Cemetery in Morton.
