Robert E. Zimmerman Sr. 78

Surviving are his children Vickie (Kenny) Hall of Peoria, Robert (Marti) Zimmerman Jr. of Germantown Hills, and Sandy (John) Henry of Bartonville. Grandchildren: Patricia Tortat, Shelly (Sergio) Contreras, Bobby (Sethany) Zimmerman, Charlie Zimmerman, Stacey Zimmerman, Chris Henry, and eight great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by 2 sisters Mary Brownfield of E. Peoria, and Donna (Brian) Newell of Canton MO, and one brother Donald (Eileen) Zimmerman of Chillicothe Il. He was preceded in death by his parents, a infant son, and one brother. Bob served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a Inspector at Caterpillar for 37 years retiring in 1986, and was a member of Local 974. After retiring he was a crossing guard and school bus driver for Germantown Hills Grade School. Bob loved woodworking, gardening, going to his grand kids ball games. For many years he enjoyed playing Santa Claus, and was a former Cub Scout Master. Member of Zion Lutheran Church in Peoria. Services will be at 11:00am Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Peoria. Reverend Steven Tibbetts officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm until 8pm at the Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel, and also one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
