Robert "Bob" Scrivner

July 27, 1931 — February 8, 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" Scrivner announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the age of 90 years.

Bob passed away at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Bob had a long-standing relationship with God and was blessed with his faith to his dying breath. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life's challenges. Despite the pain, Bob stayed strong until the end.

Bob never focused much on himself. Family was the center of his life. Bob has been a major presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren. This strong, no-nonsense, good man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.

Born during the Great Depression in 1931, Bob spent much of his formative years living on the family farm in Hamilton County, Illinois. He lived by the motto, "Use it up, wear it out, make-do, or do without." Bob began working at age three when he was tasked with keeping snakes out of the chicken brooder house. Bob's strong patriotism prompted him to join the military at age nineteen. He served as military police in the Air Force before he received an honorable discharge. After the Air Force, Bob built B-52 aircraft at Boeing. Bob's independent spirit led him to become a long haul trucker. He traveled the U.S. visiting historic sites and national parks along the way. To be closer to home and his children, Bob took a job at Peoria School District 150. He was able to utilize his exceptional mechanical skills which included designing and crafting his own tools. His early work at District 150 entailed adapting school buses to safely transport students with special needs.

Bob's life experiences made for great stories and he was a charismatic storyteller. He will be remembered for his independent spirit and dedication to his faith, family, and country.
