Robert "Bob" Lange

August 12, 1955 — August 30, 2022

Harold "Bob" Lange, 67, of Washington, Illinois, passed away at his residence on Monday, August 22, 2022. Bob's departure was unexpected but peaceful. He was dearly loved by numerous close friends and family members, who will miss his humor and compassion.

Bob was born on August 12, 1955, in Peoria, the son of the late Harold E. and Edith E. Belcher Lange.

Two brothers survive Bob: Rodney (Barb) Lange from Washington and Chad Lange from San Francisco. Jon and Rose Lange, Bob's nephew and his wife; Bernard Lange, an uncle; and several beloved cousins also survive.

Bob worked for Ruppman Marketing Technologies as a customer service representative for many years. He was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington.

Bob was passionate about music. His love of Bob Dylan's music started when Bob was in his early twenties, which included collecting rare Dylan recordings and merchandise. There's a good chance Bob knew intimate details about Dylan that Dylan himself had long ago forgotten. His love for music included a wide variety of bands and artists, but Dylan was by far his favorite. Bob had the privilege of attending many Dylan concerts, including several with his nephew, Jon, who is also a huge fan—in part because of his uncle.

Bob also had a passion for sports, which started at a young age. He was a die-hard (a term Bob loved to use) Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also loved basketball, especially watching college games. One of his favorite times of the year was watching the NCAA basketball playoffs. For many years Bob and his friends enjoyed attending high-school basketball tournaments, especially during the holidays. Bob also loved traveling with his friends throughout Illinois to Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournaments. He loved being there as a spectator to cheer his friends' team on to glorious victories!

Bob was blessed to have many wonderful friends that he dearly loved and loved spending time with—whether in person or just talking to on the phone every day. If riches were described by number of close friends and wonderful cousins, Bob was extremely wealthy.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Bob loved being in church worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ—forever grateful for the peace with God, forgiveness of sins, and assurance of eternal life he received—through faith in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.

Bob requested to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation one hour before the service. Inurnment of Bob's ashes will take place at Glendale Cemetery in Washington following the service.
