Richard Dale Stalter, 88, of Washington, IL passed away at 11:45 am on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Washington Christian Village. He was born on August 27, 1926 in Pontiac, IL to Raymond B. and Della (Denning) Stalter. He married Barbara A. Koch on November 8, 1952 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora. She survives. Also surviving are many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Donald Keith Stalter. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a welder for Caterpillar at Building LL in East Peoria for 33 years, retiring in May, 1980. He was a member of Metamora American Legion Post 89, Washington VFW 9016 and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He loved music, ballroom dancing, attending concerts and musicals. He enjoyed traveling, especially out west in the Rockies, nature, animals and gardening. He loved locomotive trains and in his youth he enjoyed helping with the mail bags at the train station in Pontiac. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Jim Gorby officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery, Metamora where military rites will be accorded by his legion post.
