Richard Jefford

Richard J. Jefford, 74, of Washington passed away at 9:35pm, Thursday, January 19, 2017 a OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on April 12, 1942 in Peoria the son of the late Richard E. and Christine Forgason Jefford. He married Kathleen M. Millard on April 15, 1968 in Washington. Surviving are his wife of Washington; their children Beth (Jac) Carr and John Jefford both of Washington and Diana (Brad) Trout of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Dalton Carr, Alyssa and Austin Jefford; Krista (Aaron) Bergthold; Korey and Steeler Trout; along with one great grandson and one brother Harold "Fuzz" (Cyndy) Jefford of Washington. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Dick worked for Cilco for 19 years and later worked for Airgas retiring in 2004. He was a member of American Legion Post 466 in Eureka; VFW Post 9016 in Washington and Vietnam Veterans of Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 also at the funeral home. Pastor Youngshim Pitcher and Pastor Dick Hanson will officiate. Burial will follow his service at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, South of Washington with Military Honors.
