Richard "Earl" David

Earl David, 80, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021, after a nearly three-year battle with brain cancer. He was born on May 28, 1941, in Carthage, IL, to James E. and Ruth F. (Crow) David. He married Janice Poehlman on July 29, 1967, in Washington.

Surviving is his wife along with one son Charles (Pam Logue) David of Decatur, IL, one brother, Robert (Janisanne) David, and one sister, Frances Galle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger David, and brother-in-law Edward Galle.

Earl graduated from Hamilton High School, Class of 59, and Western Illinois University. Following college, he served in the Iowa and Illinois Army National Guard. He worked in accounting and auditing throughout his career, last working at Aggregate Equipment in East Peoria, IL. He was active in the community serving as an officer for Hopewell Grange and the Central Fire Protection District and was a member of Sunnyland Christian Church. His primary hobby was old cars which he enjoyed immensely.

A graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Washington on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 1:30 pm with the Reverend Rebecca Ingram Kirby officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for fellowship at Sunnyland Christian Church, 2401 Washington Rd., in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is handling arrangements.
