Richard Ralph Adami

October 23, 1919 — February 27, 2013

Richard Ralph Adami, 93 of Washburn, Illinois slipped the surly bonds of Earth and touched the face of God on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Oct. 23, 1919 to Ralph and Angie (Robinson) Adami on the family farm in Washburn. He was a farmer his entire life, retiring in 1982 from active farming but, remained involved in the management of the family farm till his death. He married Dorothy Brock on Oct. 19, 1946 in Peoria and she died in 1988 but left sons, George (Elaine) Alexander of Pekin, Illinois, David (Marlene) Adami of McCordsville, Indiana, and Paul (Jane) Adami of New Berlin, Illinois, and a daughter Janice Adami. Richard then married Mae Evelyn Jackson in 1998 in Olney, Illinois and she still lives at their home in Washburn. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Mary (Nathan) Sunderland, Megan Adami, Jacqueline (Shane) Schuh and one great grandchild Kelly Sunderland; one cousin Ronald (Hazel) Dyar of Metamora, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Janice Adami, and two sisters, Ailene Sherman and Lorna Nordbusch. Richard was a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII and maintained a life long affection for airplanes attending numerous air shows including the Oshkosh Air Show in Wisconsin and in his younger years was a avid Spelunker. Member of Washburn American Legion Post #661 where he was past commander and attended Crow Meadow Presbyterian Church in LaRose, Illinois. Special thanks go to Brenda Shirley his care giver and the nurses on Eigth Floor Crescent at Methodist Medical Center. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am Saturday March 2, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Rev. Charles Buegel officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora where Military Rites will be accorded by his Legion Post. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Washburn American Legion Post #661 and Taylor Masonic Lodge #98 in Washington. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
