Richard A. "Dick" Steider, 82, of Metamora, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on January 20, 1942, in Peoria, IL, to Ivan D. and Alma E. (Ross) Steider.
Surviving are his three sons, Alan (Michelle) Steider of Cambridge, IL, Michael (Maria) Steider of Roswell, NM, and Mark (Tracie) Steider of Ottawa, IL; eight grandchildren, Andrew (girlfriend Kathy Perkins) Steider, Emma Steider, Benjamin Steider, Bryan (girlfriend Destiny Hatfield) Steider, Alyson Steider, Noah Steider, Alexandria Hood, and Drew Hood; three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Dominic, and Eric Steider; and brother-in-law, Bill Burcky of Collinsville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Steider, and sister, Joann Burcky.
Dick grew up in Metamora, graduating from Metamora High School. He was a hardworking cattle farmer, a vocation that reflected his Mennonite upbringing and strong values. Dick enjoyed horses, fishing, and collecting guns, always appreciating the simple pleasures in life. He was known for baking, often sharing his treats with friends and family. Mornings found him enjoying coffee with the guys, where he valued the camaraderie and conversation.
One of Dick's greatest joys was watching his three boys grow up. He was their most loyal supporter, always present and proud. Additionally, he played an essential role in the lives of many children in the community by driving school bus routes and transporting them to their various extracurricular activities. Dick will be remembered as a man of integrity, dedication, and simplicity. He genuine nature and straightforward demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Cremation rites accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Pastor Bob DeBolt officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial of Ashes will be held in Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora.
