Reinhart "Doots" Grebner

Reinhart L. "Doots" Grebner, 94, of Washington passed away at 8:00am, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Snyder Village Health Care Center in Metamora, IL. He was born on March 9, 1922 in Worth Township, Woodford County, Illinois the son of Rudolph and Anna Fandel Grebner. Surviving are three children, Cheryl A. (Mark) Beemer of Carol Stream, IL., and Terry G. (Paulette) Grebner and Vickie L. (Wayne) Potts, both of Washington, IL.; eleven grandchildren; Sarah Harper, Nick (Candice) Cohen, Adam (Kristin) Beemer, Haley (Eddie) Whitaker, Dustin Grebner, Jamie (Trent) Reid, Wesley Potts, Sara Potts, Kyle Presley, Jennifer (Matt) Overton and Sarah (Jeremy Lawrence) Johnson. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren, one brother Rudolph "Pap" (Bonnie) Grebner; one sister Georgianna Kiefner both of Metamora, two sister in-laws Clara Grebner and Barb Grebner and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents, six brothers Wilbert "Hank", Florentius "Hots", Lowell, Theodore, Francis "Mike", and Ernest "Ernie"; three sisters Bernadine, Virginia, and Gloria preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1942 until being honorably discharged in 1945. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. After his discharge from the U.S. Army, he worked at Hiram Walker from 1946 until his retirement in 1981. He also worked at Wernsman's Restaurant in Germantown Hills for many years. Doots was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, enjoyed bowling, gardening and loved to play Euchre. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00AM Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
