Bartonville, IL

Raymond "Ray" L. Fauber, 92, of Bartonville passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL

Ray was born on a farm in Spring Bay, IL on May 28, 1932, to Orville and Anna (Vaubel) Fauber and was the youngest of nine children. He was preceded by his lovely wife of 69 years, Eleanor Marie (Johnson) Fauber, whom he married on June 1, 1952. Surviving are his children, Clifford W. (Debra) Fauber of Cincinnati, OH, and Cristel Elrod (David) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; three grandsons, Jason (Michelle) Moorman of Brentwood, CA, James (Amber) Moorman of Oregonia, OH, and Christopher (Tori) Robey of Alexandria, VA; and five great-grandchildren, Brinley, Trevor, Caleb Grant and Cole.

Ray was a hardworking and successful businessman in Peoria for 52 years as General Manager and then President of Johnson Hydraulic Manufacturing Company.  He developed a nationwide network of distributors for high quality hydraulic hoists, cylinders, and dump bodies, and he held several patents.

Ray was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards, IL. His passions, in addition to faith, family, and country, included farming, his car collection, and his support of St Jude Children's Hospital for over 50 years.  He thoroughly enjoyed driving his motorcoach as the support vehicle for the St Jude Corvette Drive and St Jude Motorcycle Drive from Peoria to Memphis each year. He was a long-standing member of the Mid-Illinois Corvette Club and a board member of St. Jude Drives.

He loved his community and was involved in a number of activities, including driving in 4th of July and other parades. He believed Central Illinois was "the best place in the world", and the farm in Spring Bay was his favorite place. On his 92nd birthday, he had his picture taken in the room where he was born.
