Raymond "Jack" Burtsfield

Raymond "Jack" Burtsfield, 82, of Washburn, passed away at 7:20 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016 at UnityPoint Health Proctor-Peoria. He was born on January 1, 1934 in Peoria the son of the late Raymond M. and Hazel D. (Ames) Miller. He married Mary C. Deatherage on April 2, 1955 in Peoria Heights. She passed away on January 12, 2013 in Peoria. Also preceding him in death was one granddaughter, one brother, one sister, and one daughter-in-law. Surviving are his children Jack (Suzanne) Burtsfield of Washburn, IL, Karen (Larry) Backes of Germantown Hills, IL, Janice (Charlie) Cosby of Minonk, IL, Cindy (Jim) Troyer of Lake Dallas, TX; sixteen grandchildren along with a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Further surviving is one brother Bob Burtsfield, sisters Patty Bouchez, Cathy Cebuhar, Peggy Burtsfield, Anna Gibson, Judy Tyree, and Sue Sharum. Jack was an honorably discharged U.S. Marine Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked as a plasterer for Cement Masons & Plasterers Local 518. Jack was an avid fisherman, loved camping, and faithfully followed the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Buckingham Cemetery in rural Washburn. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name to Illinois Cancer Care, 8940 North Woodsage Road, Peoria, IL 61614.
