Randy Hayes

Randy Howard Hayes, 71, of Groveland, IL, passed away at 6:15 pm on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on November 14, 1952, in Peoria, the son of Earl and Colon Williams Hayes. He married Marilyn Murphy on January 18, 1972, in Kansas City, MO.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Hayes, of Groveland; one daughter, Candace Cook, of Pekin; one son, Earl (Lonna) Hayes, of Morton; one grandson, Ian Cook, of Pekin; and one sister, Betty (Gene) Newell, of Jackson, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their cat, Harry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Mary, and four siblings, Donna Steenblock, Judy Roberts, Danny Hayes, and Jerry Hayes.

Randy was a Union Sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Worker's Local #1, retiring in 1994.

Over the years, Randy enjoyed fishing, gardening, fixing things, traveling, live music, sports, and helping others. Randy lived life like there was no tomorrow. He was intelligent, outspoken, and the life of the party. His wife was his whole world, and he took great care of her.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate his life is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4 pm until 6 pm at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington.
