Prosper Alois Fandel, 90, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 12:05 pm at his residence. He was born on May 17, 1924 at his home in Germantown Hills to Michael G. and Elizabeth G. (Alig) Fandel. He was preceded in death by brother Norbert Fandel and sister-in-law Louisa Fandel. Surviving are his brother?s children Helen (Jerry) Vicare, Betty (Mike) Phillips, Norberta Jean Faulkner, Mike (Jan) Fandel and Geralyn (Rick) Hammer. He is also survived by foster brother Joseph (Mary) Miller of Metamora and their children Dan (Connie) Miller, Janice (Bruce) Bonetto and LuAnn (David) Veatch. In addition surviving are three great-nieces and six great-nephews as well as three great-great-nieces and four great-great-nephews. He spent his life farming and working as a rural mail carrier from 1967 until 1990. Prosper also served as the Worth Township Assessor for one term, a position that his father and brother Norbert also held. He was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church and the church?s Men?s Club and Lourdes Cemetery Association, Knights of Columbus 3060, and the Woodford County Farm Bureau. Through the years he was an avid blood donor for the American Red Cross. He bowled in many leagues throughout the years. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. After retirement he took up golfing. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, rural Germantown Hills with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:30 pm with visitation following from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery, rural Germantown Hills. Memorials may be given to St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
