Phyllis Kay Sheets

Phyllis K. Sheets, 84, of Washington, IL, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL She was born on April 29, 1939, in Ullin, IL the daughter of John and Virgie Kessler Miller.  She married Paul Sheets on October 1, 1960, in Peoria, IL.  He passed away on April 9, 2020. Two brothers John A. and Kenny E. Miller preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Andrew (Diana) Sheets of Peoria; a daughter, Valerie (Paul) Litten of Washington; and grandchildren, Angela Sheets, Amy (Andrew) Pihl, Sam Litten, Emily (Will) Litten, and Wesley (Claudia) Litten.

She was a woman of many talents, with a particular passion for sewing and embroidery. Her intricate designs and meticulous handiwork were admired by all who were fortunate enough to receive one of her creations. She was also a remarkable cook, whose delicious meals brought joy and comfort to her family and friends.

Phyllis dedicated many years of her life to teaching Sunday school at the former Highview Road Church of God in Washington. Her love for God and her community was evident in her commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of the children she taught. Her faith was able to guide her throughout life and inspired those around her.

Above all, Phyllis loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren. Known for her generous spirit and thoughtful nature, Phyllis touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth. She was a pillar of strength and love, always there to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. Her love for her family and her dedication to helping others will forever be remembered.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, November 24, 2023, at Crossroads Global Methodist Church.  Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.  In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name may be given to Christian Center in Peoria.
