Phyllis L. Schmidt, 99, of Washington, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Loft Rehabilitation of Eureka.

She was born on June 30, 1926, in Chatsworth, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Hazel Smith Berlett. She married Henry Schmidt. He passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and one daughter, Sharon Nieukirk.

She is lovingly survived by her three children: Ronnie Schmidt of West Peoria, John Schmidt of Washington, and Robin (Mark Wise) Bryan of Metamora. Her family also includes five cherished grandchildren: Jason Schmidt, Shane (Cindy) Nieukirk, and Stephanie (Dusty) Wise, Elizabeth (Blake) Catton, and Brooke (Casey Lennington) Bryan as well as seven wonderful great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will gather for a private graveside service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. A celebration of life will be scheduled with more details to follow.
