Perry W. Curless, 90, of Spring Bay passed away peacefully at 5:00pm Wednesday at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on April 23, 1922 in Astoria IL the son of Claude and Verna Shawgo Curless. He married Katherine Zilch on November 27, 1949 in Spring Bay. She survives as well as their two children Dan (Julie) Curless of Washington, IL and Deb Flanagan of East Peoria. Also surviving are four grandchildren Joey (Todd) Courtney, Derek (Heidi) Curless, Zachary Curless and Daniel Curless. He also has surviving two sisters Mary Genseal of Texas and Alice rose of California, and one brother Bernard (Rosemary) Curless of Metamora. His parents, two brothers Lester and Leonard, preceded him in death. He was a WWII Army veteran serving as a CPL in the infantry in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He worked for 35 years at Hiram Walker Distillery before retiring in the late 80?s. He was a member of the Rivers Edge United Methodist Church in Spring Bay. Perry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to garden especially growing his tomatoes each year at his home. He is in peace in heaven and will be greatly missed by his family. Funeral Services will be 11am on Saturday December 15, 2012 at Rivers Edge United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his services at the church. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be given to Rivers Edge United Methodist Church.
