Peggy S. Nieschlag, 96, of Metamora, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Peggy was born on February 6, 1930, in Burkley, Kentucky, to Carl and Oma Thomason Anderson. She married Henry Nieschlag on July 1, 1956, in Metamora. Henry passed away on March 15, 2011. Peggy was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Anita (Daniel) Graf, of Germantown Hills, Illinois; and one son, Russell (Eyong) Nieschlag, of Grapevine, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melissa Nieschlag, Alexander Nieschlag, Taylor (Bradley) Osborn, and Keenan O’Neill. Also surviving are one brother, Amos (Jane) Anderson, of Paducah, Kentucky.
Peggy dedicated several years to teaching home economics at Metamora Township High School, generously sharing her valuable knowledge. She was also a beloved member of the Christian Union Church in Metamora.
She loved spending her time baking, gardening, and sewing, and she kindly volunteered at Snyder Village and the Friendship House in Peoria for many wonderful years. She found joy in solving crossword puzzles and loved watching Wheel of Fortune. After Henry passed away, she delighted in traveling to many exciting overseas destinations.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Mason-White Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Salm will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Snyder Village or Christian Union Church. To share a memory or send condolences to her family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
