Paulette B. Bockler

August 27, 1947 — October 28, 2015

Paulette B. Bockler, 68, of Peoria passed away on Wednesday evening, October 28, 2015 in the arms of her loving husband. Paulette was born on August 27, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Paul G. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Weiss) Griebel. She married Don W. Bockler on July 26, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. He survives. Also surviving are her daughter Danielle (Nathan) Thomas of Peoria, IL; son Steve (Cara) Bockler of Fishers, IN; sister Lisa Griebel of Minneapolis, MN; mother Elizabeth Griebel of Peoria, IL; and two grandsons Drew and "Baby Thomas" (arriving in February). She was preceded in death by her father Paul G. Griebel; brother Paul A. Griebel; father-in-law Roy A. Bockler; and mothers-in-law Maxine M. Bockler and Leona (Miller) Bockler. Paulette was a graduate of Peoria High and Bradley University. She taught at Sacre Coeur in Creve Coeur and Peoria Montessori. She enjoyed fishing with friends in Branson, walking the white sandy beaches in Siesta Keys, volunteering in the classroom for her daughter and visiting her son and his family. Paulette could always be found spending her summers at the beloved Wedgewood Swim Club, where she spent countless hours bonding with her "Wedgewood Family". She did everything from payroll to working the front desk and snack bar, and took joy in passing out tootsie rolls to the kids. Her generous spirit was also extended to the many animals in her life including her sweet golden retriever, Sadie and backyard bunnies. Paulette was a true angel on earth. She was a kind, loving, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, "Gammie", and friend, who enjoyed spending time with and doting on those she cared for. She always gave selflessly, making a point to treat others with kindness and respect. Anyone who knew Paulette would tell you how her bubbly personality lit up a room and made others feel so special! How blessed were those whose lives were enriched by this woman, both beautiful inside and out. Paulette will be missed tremendously by those whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria with Pastor Mark J. Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Metamora.
