Paul H. Steenrod age 101 of the Apostolic Christian Home Roanoke, formerly of Eureka, Illinois passed away at 3:15am Thursday Nov. 10, 2011 at the home in Roanoke, Illinois. He was born Oct. 17, 1910 in Hinton, Kentucky to Charles and Norah (Switzer) Steenrod. He married Dorothy Quinn on May 26, 1934 in Henry, Illinois she passed away Oct. 17 1996. Surviving are his children Sheila (Russ) Aikin of Lansing, MI and Charles (Barb) Steenrod of Roanoke, IL. Grandchildren; Ken Steenrod, Deb (Mel) Nielsen, Kim (Scott) Edwards, Kevin (Teresa) Roeschley, Kerri Roeschley, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Paul is also survived by one sister Ruth Steenrod of Bureau, IL. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Paul was a Railroad Yardmaster working for the Rock Island Railroad for 48 years. Charter Board Member for Youth for Christ in Peoria where he was the first recipient of the Faithful Servant Award. Former Board Member of Peoria Rescue Mission and a active participant in numerous Christian organizations. Member of Grace Bible Church in Washington, IL. Being a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather Paul practiced what he preached. He was a Life long St. Louis Cardinals fan and had celebrated his 100th birthday at O?Brien Field in Peoria. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday Nov. 12, 2011 at the Maple Lawn Homes Memorial Hall in Eureka with Rev. Doug Hicks officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until service time at Memorial Hall. Private family graveside services will be held Monday at Henry City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Youth for Christ in Peoria, Peoria Rescue Ministries, and or Donors Choice. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com
