Paul C. Murphy, 92, of Roanoke, IL, passed away at 7:53 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Snyder Village Healthcare Center, in Metamora, IL, where he was a resident. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Jacksonville, IL, a son to James and Cecil (Bettis) Murphy. He married Colleen A. Russell on January 1, 1950 in Macomb, IL. She passed away on September 17, 2007.

Surviving is one son, Scott (Milissa) Murphy of Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren; and son-in-law Charles Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Beth Riley, and grandson, Brian Scott Murphy.

Paul taught in the Roanoke-Benson school district for 31 years.  He began his teaching career in the high school science department.  He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Audio Visual Arts, combining that skill set with his chemistry classes.  Following his teaching career, he joined with his wife Colleen and Ed Willard to form Murphy Photography, taking wedding photos for many years and winning numerous awards with the Peoria Photography Club.  A life-long learner, Paul taught himself how to create data base programs.  He applied that skill set to the fields of blood banking, the Roanoke Water Department, the Woodford County Dog Tag program, and finally, with the Woodford County Highway Department.  Paul was also a member of the Roanoke United Methodist Church for many years.

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Roanoke City Cemetery in Roanoke, IL, with a family and friends celebration planned for the Fall of 2021.
