Patricia Eileen Popelar

Patricia Eileen Popelar, 86, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Peoria, IL passed away at 8:20 am on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Snyder Village in Metamora.  She was born on September 27, 1931 in Peoria, IL to Eldred S. and Laurena M. (Funderburg) Byerly.  She married George D. Ringness on December 26, 1951.  She later married Richard T. Popelar on April 21, 1972.  He survives.

Also surviving are two children Jeff (Ann) Ringness of Germantown Hills and Lorie Diehl of St. Louis, MO; three step-children Denise (David) Bozarth of Florida, Greg Popelar of Colorado, and Sue Ellen (Keith) Phelps of Germantown Hills; three grandchildren Jason (Peggy) Diehl of Wheaton, Sara (Ben) Martin of Roanoke, and Garrett (Carrie) Ringness of Dunlap; three step-grandchildren Josh Smith, Laura Phelps, and Allison Phelps; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Donna (Loren) Zimmerman of Peoria.  She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her son Michael Ringness.

Pat was a secretary at Sterling Grade School in Peoria for many years.  She enjoyed fashion and shopping, ballroom dancing, time at the lake in Minnesota, winters in Florida, taking cruises, entertaining, and playing cards with friends.  Pat volunteered at St. Jude and was a member of Willow Hill United Methodist Church in Germantown Hills.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Bradley F. Watkins II officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at Camp Butler in Springfield, IL.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Snyder Village, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or Willow Hill United Methodist Church, 304 East Far Hills Drive, East Peoria, IL 61611.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
