WASHINGTON?Orval Nafziger, 101, formerly of Washington and Hopedale, passed away at 5:30 am Sunday June 22, 2014, at Maple Lawn Health Center, Eureka. Orval was born on November 19, 1912 in Hopedale, Illinois to Asa and Lizzie Nafziger. He married Jessie Gottschalk in Minier on June 7, 1941. Jessie passed away on May 29, 2010 in Eureka. Surviving are two daughters, JoAnne (Gary) Cruson of Nampa, Idaho, Norma (Bill) Foster of Eagle, Idaho; three grandchildren, Jennifer Mecham (Chase) of Nampa,Idaho, Kimberly Conklin (Clay) of Snoqualmie, Washington, Megan Foster of Leuven, Belgium; and four loving great grandchildren, Elle, Natalie, Mia and Turner. Orval was preceded in death by five siblings: Ina Garber, Evelyn Collins, Lucille Bachman, Melvin Nafziger, and Willis Nafziger. He was an appliance technician for Sears Roebuck for many years, yet enjoyed over 30 years of retirement in Washington and Eureka. Orval led a beautiful life, which was a model for all to live by. He inspired his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to adopt his positive attitude and genuine kindness which he practiced his entire life. Funeral services will be held at Maple Lawn Memorial Hall on Wednesday, June 25, at 10 am with Pastor Doane Brubaker officiating. Mason White funeral home will be assisting with arrangements.
