Olsen Robert Osterloo, 7, of Metamora, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
Born March 20, 2018, in Peoria, IL, to Daniel and Mallory (Friedrich) Osterloo and little brother to Kent Ray Osterloo, 10.
Olsen was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Richard and Jean (Stone) Winkler, John and Anita (Randall) Friedrich, and Garland and Barbara (Wilson) Pires.
Surviving are his parents, Daniel and Mallory (Friedrich) Osterloo, and his brother Kent Osterloo of Metamora, IL; paternal great-grandparents, Norman and Ethel (Drake) Osterloo of German Valley, IL; paternal grandparents, Doug and Teresa (Pires) Osterloo of Metamora, IL; aunt and uncle, Drew and Erica (Osterloo) Au and cousins, Auri and Elinor Au; aunt and uncle Stephen and Emily (Osterloo) Cooksey and cousin James Cooksey; maternal grandparents, J.R. and Dede (Winkler) Friedrich of Germantown Hills, IL; and uncles, Jack Friedrich and A.J. Friedrich.
Olsen was an extrovert who loved being around the people who meant the most to him. His big brother was his favorite person. He loved laughing and playing with his grandparents, and he found ultimate comfort in his dad. Olsen was a great friend, with many strong opinions, but wanted to bring joy to those around him.
Olsen loved to be silly and loved to dance and sing. He loved slapstick humor. He would memorize songs and would listen to his favorites for hours. Olsen loved superheroes and cartoon characters. He had a huge imagination and pretend played with hundreds of figurines.
Olsen courageously and without faltering, fought his congenital heart defect his entire life. He did not let his many battles steal his joy. Olsen loved Jesus and was filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe when Jesus came to take Olsen to heaven, as his earthly body was failing, Olsen said, "Let's Go!"
