Obituary

Norman L. Hendrickson, 87, of Washington, IL passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.

He was born on July 13, 1937, in Hillard, MO, the son of George and Ina Turner Hendrickson. He married Clara M. Jenkins on June 16, 1962, in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Angela (Mark) Hawkins of Washington, IL; six grandchildren, Heather Hawkins, Jacqueline (Tim) Harper, Tabitha (Zack) Miller, Joshua Hendrickson, Jason Hendrickson, and Hayley (Jerry) Haynes; five great-grandchildren, Jerry Conner Haynes IV, Declan Miller, Lincoln Blum, Avelina Haynes, and Lydia Miller. Also surviving is one brother, Bill Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO. One son, Steven; three brothers, Leslie Stucker, Clarence Stucker, and Daniel Stucker; two sisters, Merle Moore and Esther Shephard, all preceded him in death.

For 31 years, Norman was an employee of Caterpillar Tractor Company, where he honed his skills and contributed significantly as a millwright. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to the Summit Nazarene Church, where he was an active and beloved member. Norman's retirement in 1997 marked the end of a distinguished career but also the beginning of a new chapter filled with his favorite pastimes.

Norman's enthusiasm for auctions and tractors was well-known, and he could often be found admiring the craftsmanship of farm machinery or engaging in friendly bidding wars. His love for his pets was evident to all who knew him, as he always had a story to share about his animal companions.

Above all, Norman cherished the time spent with his family. His presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and comfort, and his laughter was infectious.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will follow his service at Union Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Summit Nazarene Church.
