Norman D. Dean

Norman D. Dean age 90 of E. Peoria, Illinois passed away at 12:20pm Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Dec. 8, 1923 in Searl?s Ridge Illinois to Clyde D. and Malissa A. (McCauley) Dean. He married Evelyn I. Collins on July 30, 1949 in Peoria and she passed away on Feb. 16, 1997. Surviving are his children, Joyce (Randall) Stogentin of Grand DeTour, IL., Douglas (Betty) Dean of Dunlap, Scott (Ann) Dean of E. Peoria, Lorinda (Ken) Ausili of Covell IL., and Jeanette (John) Johnson of E. Peoria. Grandchildren, Susan, Sandra, Stacey, Sean, Heather, Brian, Donielle, Jason, Brent, Adam, Sue, Adam, Andy, Evan and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Louis "Pete" (Kathleen) Dean of E. Peoria, Elma Mae Gall of Peru, IL., Carol Starovasnik of Seattle, WA., Rita (Roger) Gibson of Trinity, TX., and Kenneth (Arleen) Dean of LaSalle, IL. two brothers and one sister preceded in him in death. Norman served in the Army during WWII with the Military Police, and worked at Caterpillar for 40 years. Member of Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115, Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria, Heights. The Family is grateful to all of Dad?s loving caregivers, especially Pat, Evan, Rebecca, Anna and the compassionate staff of the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Hts. with Father Tom Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Friday Jan. 10, 2014 from 4pm until 7pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel and also one hour prior to mass at church. Burial will be in Sand Ridge Cemetery in E. Peoria where Military Rites will be accorded by his Legion Post. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Thomas Building Fund and or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
