Norma J. Mixon Burdette

Norma J. Mixon Burdette, 94, of Washington passed away peacefully Sunday, September 18, 2016 at her residence at the Villas of Hollybrook. She was born on July 2, 1922 in Peoria the daughter of Chester and Flossie Stoldt McDaniel. She married Robert P. Newland on November 22, 1942 in Peoria, he passed away on June 9, 1968. She then married Winston M. Mixon on October 22, 1977 in Fairfax County, VA. He passed away on April 9, 2001. She later married Herbert E. Burdette on November 13, 2007 and he passed away on April 23, 2015. She was also preceded in death by one brother Wallace McDaniel and one sister Hilda Burdette. Surviving are two step-daughters Cheri (Tony) Rodgers and Marla (Sam) Reeder both of Washington. Also surviving are 5 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren. Norma worked as a contracting officer with the Veterans Administration in Chicago, Florida, and Washington, DC. She attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, bridge and entertaining. A funeral service is scheduled for 11am Friday, September 23, 2016 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Youngshim Pitcher will officiate. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
