Norma Lee Dykes

Norma Lee Dykes age 85 of Bay View Gardens, Illinois passed away at 8:40pm Saturday May 11, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in E. Peoria. She was born Feb. 25, 1928 in Decatur, IL., to Charles and Hazel Mae (Slover) Easley. She married Vestel "Keck" Dykes on Oct. 31, 1947 in Decatur and he passed away in 1988. Norma is survived by two sons, Gregory (Patricia) Dykes, Brian (Elaine) Dykes and one daughter Deborah (Rickey) Keller all of Bay View Gardens. She has eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Kate Meyer of Bay View Gardens, and Loretta (Melvin) Allen of Spring Bay, IL. She was preceded in death by one sister Oletta Conder and one grandson Jeffrey Dykes. Norma was a past member of the Ascension Lutheran Church where she was a member of many clubs and organizations including the Grandmothers Club. Life member of Womens Auxiliary Post 1115 American Legion in Spring Bay. She was a cook at Riverview Grade School for 35 years where she touched the lives of many children including all eight of her grandchildren. Norma and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling, camping, and fishing in their 41 years of marriage. Norma was very active in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending sporting events, concerts, recitals and never missing a birthday party. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday May 18, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Friday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery.
