Norma Jean Whitfield, 94, of Metamora, IL passed away at 7:10 pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born on September 1, 1927 in Peoria, IL to Arthur W. and Elsie L. (Hildebrand) Buenneke. She married Joseph A. Whitfield on December 19, 1948 in Peoria, IL. He passed away on August 11, 2004.

Surviving are her son, Jay (Sally) Whitfield of Metamora; grandson, Marcus Whitfield of Germantown Hills, IL; granddaughter, Lyndsay Whitfield of Chicago, IL; great-granddaughter, Mia Whitfield; and Mia's mom, Rachele Whitfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Buenneke.

Norma graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1945 and held several business oriented jobs. However, first and foremost she was very proud to be a homemaker for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, Ggma, sister, aunt, and friend. A very creative and talented woman, her family and friends were recipients of her skillful love. She was a tremendous seamstress, artist, and crafter. She and Joe traveled to several countries and had a full and adventure filled life.

She loved her family ardently, always putting them first. In addition, she loved her many dogs she had over the years as well as granddogs. Most recently, she found great joy in spending time with "Lily" and "Oliver". She will be truly missed.
