Nellie Brown

Nellie M. Brown, 100, of Metamora, formerly of Washington passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria IL. Nellie was born December 23, 1916 in Cobden, IL, daughter of William and Carrie Cavaness Harbaugh. She married Doyle Brown on July 2, 1955 in Peoria. He passed away on March 28, 1995 in Danville, IL. Two daughters Beverly Frakes husband Walter and Judy McDonald; one granddaughter Lisa Thieme, one brother Bill Harbaugh and one sister Helen Hickam all preceded her in death. Surviving are four grandchildren Walter (Janet) Frakes, Lori (Quint) Koehl both of Washington; Jeff (Sandy) McDonald of Castle Rock, CO; and Jodi (Mark) Burian of Shorewood, IL. and one grand son-in law John Thieme of Washington. Also surviving are 15 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and one sister Betty O'Donnell of St. Louis, MO. She owned and operated the "Orchid" beauty salon in Peoria for many years. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday March 31, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Gary Salm will officiate. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Midwest Affiliate.
