WASHINGTON?Mitchell G. Junk, 71, of Washington, passed away at 9:43 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home. Mitch was born on November 25, 1941 in Peoria to Lewis and Lillie (Dunsworth) Junk. He married Bonnie Swearingen on May 7, 1967 in Kewanee. Bonnie survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Rochelle (David) Nason of Goodfield; four grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Samantha and Spencer; one sister, Mary Margaret Bader of North Pekin; one brother, Martin (Mary Jane) Junk of Washington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mitchell had worked for Caterpillar for over 33 years prior to his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed starting his day with the coffee group at Hillcrest Golf Course. In his spare time he liked to fish as well as being an avid NASCAR fan. Mitch enjoyed walking and also mowing the lawn and spending time when he could with the grandchildren. A celebration of life service for Mitchell will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials for Mitch may be directed to either WHIP or the Cancer Society.
