Minerva Jane (Bachman) Reeb, age 97, of Metamora, IL, met her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
She was born on a farm near Metamora, IL, on February 4, 1924, to Silas and Mattie (Reeser) Bachman. Minerva graduated from Metamora High School in 1941. She married John V. Reeb on February 15, 1942, in Metamora, and they had four children. He passed away on July 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, one sister Ruth Gross, three step-brothers Richard, Allan, and Paul Bachman, one step-sister Eileen Schertz, and close friend Garland Martin with whom she shared a friendship for seven years.
Surviving are her children, Joanne (Raymond) Hostetler of Eureka, Paul (Susan) Reeb of Metamora, Susan (Paul) Hovey of Lacon, and Rollin (Connie) Reeb of Germantown Hills; twelve grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; Also, surviving are one brother, Russel (Ferne) Bachman; one sister, Orpha Schertz; one step-brother, John Bachman, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Nel Schertz and Doris Bachman; and many nieces and nephews.
Minerva helped her husband farm in planting and harvesting seasons. In later years John had an insurance agency. She helped him with the secretarial work. They traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and four other countries in their retirement years. She did volunteer work at several locations, including the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka for 32 years.
Minerva was a life-long member of the Metamora Mennonite Church. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, participated in Women's Mission and Service Commission, and sang in the church choir. Minerva was also involved in the Gideon Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, solving puzzles, and traveling to see God's wonderful creation.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Metamora Mennonite Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gideons International, Snyder Village, or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
