Mildred L. Jenkins, 100, of Washington, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home-Roanoke.
She was born on October 18, 1923, in Gravois Mills, MO, the daughter of William and Carrie Hedrick Martschinsky. She married Ralph F. Jenkins in Piggott, Ark., on January 20, 1951. He passed away on October 14, 2010. One son, Larry, one brother, and four sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Jenkins of Washington, IL, Debora Walker of Washington, and Barbara (Don "Jake") Eichelberger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Ronald Jenkins of Peoria and Brian (Julie) Jenkins of Washington; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Further surviving are one daughter in law Janet Jenkins of Vista CA.
A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting and gardening. Mildred's gardening skills were a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit, blooming with the same vibrancy that she brought to every room. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, she celebrated each game with the same passion she devoted to every aspect of her life.
Mildred's happiest moments were spent dancing in the arms of her beloved husband and laughing with friends over a spirited game of cards. Her joyous approach to life, unwavering kindness, and enduring love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A private service is scheduled for Monday, May 13, 2024, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Her grandson Greg Jenkins will officiate. The burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
