Obituary

Michael Williams, 84, of Washington, whose life touched many, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.

Mike was born on June 25, 1942, in Benton, Illinois, to Charles and Ethel Beaty Williams. He married Sharon Pinkham on June 14, 1969, in Benton.

Surviving are his wife of Washington, Illinois; three children: Jeff (Elyse Curtner) Williams of Herrin, Illinois; Steven (Jennifer) Williams of Elmwood, Illinois; and Becky (Jesse) Donahoo of Bloomington, Illinois. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Annalise, Brody, Brendan, Kiera, Kaylin, Levi, and Laa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.

Mike was an honorably discharged U.S. Air Force Veteran. He spent over three decades working with GTE and later Verizon, where he took on the role of district manager, retiring after 31 years.

He was also very active in all the churches he attended throughout his life. He loved spending his free time reading, exploring local theater, traveling to new places, and listening to music, especially enjoying Southern gospel and marveling at his wife’s beautiful piano playing.

Mike had a charming and amusing sense of humor. He was always so welcoming, never met a stranger, and loved connecting with others. His passions reflect a warm, curious spirit, always eager to explore new experiences and enjoy life.

At Mike's request, cremation rites have been accorded. While there will be no public services, his family will privately celebrate his life. His family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of Mike to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or, in honor of his mother, the Alzheimer’s Association.
