Michael R. Schroers

Michael R. Schroers, 67, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 8:30 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Unity Point Health Methodist, Peoria. He was born on September 6, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Lawrence and Henrietta (Driessen) Schroers. He married Deloris A. Peterson on February 2, 1974 in Morris, IL. She died on December 4, 2013. Surviving are his children Angie (Eric) Claudin of Germantown Hills, Scott Schroers of Albuquerque, NM, Brian (Chrissy) Schroers of East Peoria, and Kim Schroers of Denver, CO; five grandchildren Ashley, Bryce, Broderick, Ryley, and Kyler; and siblings Carol (Tom) Imbus, Kathy (Wayne) Weintraut, Ron (Charlene) Schroers all of Indiana, and Gail (Ken) Voiles of Eureka Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Michael was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines serving during the Vietnam War. He was a manager for Kroger for 50 years. He served on the Kemba Credit Union Board for 34 years and involved with Boy Scouts Troop 165 for 20 years. He was a 25 year volunteer with St. Jude Midwest Affiliate and was instrumental in involving Kroger with St. Jude. He also volunteered at Germantown Hills School District #69. He loved fishing and for 25 years he enjoyed his annual "guys" fishing trips to Canada. Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services have been held.
