Michael J. Bessler Sr., 58, formerly of Washington, Illinois, passed away at his home in Washburn, Illinois, on Friday, June 26, 2026, with his loving wife by his side

He was born on October 24, 1967, to Stanley Leland and Loretta Ullom. After Leland's unexpected death, he was later adopted by Lawrence Bessler. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael married Jessica Lowry on June 6, 2022. She survives, along with two sons, Michael (Shelby) Bessler Jr. and Dustin Bessler, both of Bowdoin, Maine. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Carter, Paisley, Kolton, and Ryker. Mike's siblings include Tom (Sherry) Bessler of Washington; Teresa Behrends of Washington; Teresa (Kevin) Weaver of Saginaw, Texas; Sherry (Deon) Thurston of Washington; and Jamie (David) Reed of Yulee, Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all cherished members of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his beloved fur babies, Oakley, Jade, Martina, Willow, Reno and Sylvie.

Michael has spent most of his adult life working as a heavy equipment operator. He also loved going to concerts and taking trips with Jessica, sharing joyful experiences together.

Cremation rites have been completed. The family will celebrate his life on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 2 pm to 5pm at the Spring Bay American Legion. The family invites everyone to come together to share memories in honor of Michael’s life.
