Mayor Hendryx

Edgar "Gene" "Mayor" Hendryx, 82, of Metamora passed away at 2:52pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his residence with his family by his bedside. He was born on March 10, 1931 in Pride, KY. He married Eleanor Mae Kindig on February 14, 1952 in Springfield, IL. She survives after 61 years of marriage along with their five children, Susan Hendryx of Coeur d?Alene, ID; Sharon (Henry) Heren of Peoria, IL; Gary Hendryx of Metamora, Greg Hendryx of Barbaboo, WI; and Wendy (Alex) Overend of Cumming, GA. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one brother Charles from Texas. His mother and three sisters preceded him in death. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. Mayor was a machinist working most of his life at McBride & Shoff in Metamora; he then retired from Keystone Steel & Wire in 1994. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings fan. Cremation Rites have been accorded with no services scheduled at this time. Memorials in his name may be given to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
