Maxine Stewart, 86, of East Peoria passed away at 3:15am Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on January 4, 1930 in Black Rock, AR the daughter of George and Zona Ashlock Roots. She married Charles T. Stewart on November 18, 1947 in Denton, AR. Surviving are her husband along with their six children Mickey (Joseph) Herrmann of Ft. Smith, AR; Charlene (Jim) Stevens of East Peoria, IL; Rita (Mike) Watson of Estero, FL; Cindy (Ron) Brockett of East Peoria, IL; Tom (Karen) Stewart of Bay View Gardens, IL and Bec (Brian) Land of East Peoria, IL. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren as well as one sister Ella Miller of East Peoria. Her parents, two grandsons, one granddaughter and three sisters preceded her in death. She worked for Meister Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning as a bookkeeper for many years along with the family business, Stewart's Radio in East Peoria. Her greatest joy in life was the love of her family. Maxine had many interests in life, one of which was poetry and was a published poet. She enjoyed boating gardening, traveling, sewing and bowling. She attended Dayspring Native American United Methodist Church in East Peoria. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11am Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Steve Drennan officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service.
