Maxine Louise Sommer

Maxine Louise Sommer, 75, of Washington, IL, formerly of Spring Bay, IL, passed away at 4:09 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

She was born on May 10, 1951, in Peoria, IL, to William Gordon and Nellie C. (Sans) Sommer.

Surviving are her siblings, Donna Weir of Spring Bay, IL, David (Vickie) Sommer of Winston Salem, NC, and Larry (Debbie) Sommer of Weatherby Lake, MO; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Sommer of Peoria, IL and Jeanne Sommer of Springfield, IL; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Sommer and Joe Sommer, and sister Carolyn Mitchell.

Maxine graduated from Metamora High School and lived on the family farm for 57 years. She worked in retail at Sears for 30 years and was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Metamora, IL. Maxine was an avid traveler with Peoria Charters and loved to travel with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family, hosting family gatherings, raising farm animals, and gardening to provide for her family. She was an avid puzzle fanatic and also enjoyed coloring.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Faith Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Kurt Smith officiating. Burial of Ashes will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, IL at a later date.
