Maureen Louise Hennig, 89, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 12:41 pm on Friday, February 17, 2023, at River Crossing of East Peoria in East Peoria, IL.

She was born on April 29, 1933, in Peoria, IL, to James W. and Mildred D. (Plegge) Bailey. She married Joseph J. Hennig on October 22, 1955 in Peoria, IL. He passed away on October 17, 2019.

Surviving are her two sons, Frank Hennig of Peoria Heights, IL and Joseph Hennig of Pekin, IL; two grandsons, Steven Hennig of Bloomington, IL and Dillion (Cheyanne) Hennig of Marquette Heights, IL; and one brother, Marvin Bailey of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Frank Bailey and Robert Bailey, and two sisters Audrey McCool and Mildred Wright.

Maureen was a telephone operator for Illinois Bell for 16 years. She was an avid card player, enjoyed playing Bingo and traveling, especially to the Ozarks, and going to the casinos. She also loved spending time with family and friends. Maureen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment of ashes will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria with Father David Kipfer officiating. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
