Mary Laurine (Wernsman) Miller

Mary Laurine Miller, 94, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 10:42 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at her residence.

She was born on January 20, 1928, in Worth Township, IL, to Albert and Emma (Kerker) Wernsman. She married Joseph M. Miller on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948, at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora, IL.

Surviving are her husband, Joe of Metamora; three children, Daniel (Connie) Miller, Janice (Bruce) Bonetto, and LuAnn (Dave) Veatch; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle and Harold, and one sister, Alice.

Mary worked at Caterpillar in the payroll department for six years and then left to raise her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, painting, crafts, and working at St. Mary's church and school. She enjoyed attending her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's activities and teaching them how to cook, bake, and quilt.

Mary was a devout Catholic. She will be remembered for her 40 years of daily mass attendance and recitation of the rosary. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Vien Van Do officiating. As per Mary's wishes, there will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
