Mary Jean Kennel, 84, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 1:12 am on Friday, August 15, 2025, at The Loft Rehabilitation & Nursing in Eureka, IL.  She was born on March 12, 1941, in Peoria, IL, to Paul A. and Verna M. (Noe) Wagner.

Surviving are her children, Bryant (Rhonda) Kennel of Washington, IL, Todd (Cindy) Kennel of Metamora, IL, and Jessica (Eric) Hubert of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Joshua (Abbie) Kennel, Andrew (Carrie Budyn) Kennel, Ashley (Alan) Getz, Shawn Kennel, Paige (Morgan) DePew, and Patrick (Annie Clearwater) Hubert; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Josie, Mallory, and Parker; and siblings, Janice (Steve) Stamper of Berea, KY, Ronald (Carol) Wagner of Alabama, and Paulette (Mike) Hillyer of Metamora, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Donna Rose Jenkins and Charlene Wernsman.

Mary Jean worked in the laundry department at Snyder Village in Metamora.  She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and baking sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies which were the best.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora.  Mary Jean was a White Sox and Kansas City Chiefs fan.  She had been the co-owner of the Family Fountain, Fountain Lounge, and Kennel's Homestead, all in Metamora.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Father David Kipfer officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Emergency 116 Ambulance Service, P.O.
