Mary F. Tunnell, 77, of Washington, Illinois, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following a battle with cancer.

She was born on February 24, 1949, in Washington, to Howard and Beulah Broeg Tunnell.

She is survived by her brother, John (Marjory) Tunnell of Oswego, Illinois, and two nieces, Jill (Buck) Thomas of Champaign, Illinois, and Jennifer (Bill) Welsh of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim, in 2017.

Mary was a 1967 graduate of Washington Community High School. She spent many years working at the Kroger store in Washington. She loved her animals and truly enjoyed spending time with her many friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Kinder Cemetery in rural Hornsby, Illinois. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
