Mary S. Schupp, 89, of Metamora passed away peacefully at 9:20am Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Washington Christian Village with family by her side. She was born on May 16, 1924 in rural Metamora the daughter of Raymond A. and Irma L. Seckler Gries. She married Clifford F. Schupp on June 5, 1946 in Metamora; he passed away on May 7, 2005. One son Randy and one brother Kenny preceded her in death. Surviving are her children Linda (Gary) McIntosh of Peoria Heights; Doug (Nancy) Schupp and Gary Schupp both of Washington; Lisa (Jeff) Smith of Roanoke; and Barbara Fenner of Winter Haven, FL. Further surviving are 12 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter expected, one brother Vernon Gries of Peoria, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was a 1942 graduate of Metamora Township High School. She was employed by the Metamora Post office until her marriage to Cliff. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora, and was a member of Altar & Rosary Society, Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was an avid card club member for over 50 years and had the honor of being named the first Ms. Woodford County in 1941. Mary was known for her wonderful cooking and baking, as well as her love and devotion to her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Dodd celebrating. Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2013 from 4pm until 7pm at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to her church or to the American Heart Association.
